At Classkick, nothing is more important to us than listening to our students and teachers. It’s the only way we know we’re making a great product and serving the community we care about most: you! After interviewing many educators, we feel ready to make a change effective September 1st, 2019.

We are updating Classkick plans this school year. These are the big changes you will want to know ahead of time:

  • We’re giving the majority of Classkick Pro features over to Classkick Basic (all canvas tools, handwriting colors and highlighters, multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, chat, backgrounds, feedback and sticker customization, and Sticker Wand tools) and setting a limit on Basic of 20 assignments. See more in how-to videos, or teachers’ examples on instagram.
  • Pro will include unlimited assignments, folders, student portfolios, and export of grades, answers, and PDFs.

Whoa! That is a big change. Why are we making this move? Well, philosophically, we believe in access. We have always wanted to create a great product that teachers and students instantly benefit from and use. Hiding new features behind a paywall isn’t the way to do that. Rather, we prefer you have the best, holistic experience upfront, so that real-time student work and feedback impact your students’ growth right away!

Practically speaking, we learned from teachers that because everyone is different, time-based free trials don’t work (we tried everything from 14 days to 150 days). Some wanted to use a Classkick free-trial for months before they really got into it. Others were jumping up and down with excitement by the end of their first Monday! Rather than cut you off after an arbitrary time period, this new model accommodates everyone by letting you to try Classkick at your own pace.

From a business perspective, our goal is that teachers never pay out of pocket and the low cost is instead passed along to the budget level. For us, this is a fundamental and moral principle. We are working toward that day, by keeping school costs super low and making it easy for educators to forward on to admin. For those whose schools simply don’t have the budget for this, we are working on additional options (give feedback on them here).

If you are reading this then it’s likely you are a current user. We are indebted to you. We could not have built Classkick without your support and your feedback. We want to thank you, and certainly want to avoid disrupting your workflow. So when these changes go into effect Sep. 1, we are leaving all your existing assignments undisturbed and editable (even if you have 1000!) and offering current users a deeply discounted price for up to a year. This will be available for purchase in your Classkick account dashboard starting Aug. 15, and will remain available through Oct. 31. Lastly, if you prefer to have your school order unlimited Pro teacher and student memberships, those highly discounted orders are available here now.

This is just the beginning. We want to continue to hear your input so we can improve this model and serve educators like you even better. Remember: If you request it, we will build it. #featuresbyteachers Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to more student learning!
